Salon-Themed Birthday

This cake was so much fun! The birthday girl wanted a huge nail polish bottle atop a zebra-print cake. I developed a new recipe for the black fondant...normally it is quite bitter, but this recipe is smooth and chocolately. The feather boa and plastic pearls added some drama.

Marvin the Martian

I used a character pan and buttercream icing to create this birthday cake!

Baby Shower Cupcakes

These baby shower cupcakes were very simple and elegant. Atop the buttercream icing lies a small circle of marshmallow fondant with the baby's initial in chocolate. This concept could be used for birthday cupcakes, bridal shower cupcakes, or any special occasion!

Carousel Cake

This cake was made for a themed luncheon celebration. The theme was a child's birthday party at the zoo! My inspiration was the beautiful fabric covering the table. The carousel theme would also make a cute baby shower cake!

Electric Guitar, "Camo" Style

I learned a new technique to cover this guitar-shaped cake with fondant. In order to make the "camo" pattern, I combined different colors of marshmallow fondant, kneaded it briefly, and rolled it flat. The birthday boy loved it!

Cowboy Birthday Cake

The fondant decor of this cake was fun to make! I hand-piped the detail on the bandana, as well as the denim pocket. The lasso that surrounds the bottom of the cake and encircles the cowboy hat is rolled fondant.

"Cars" Birthday Cake

Everything on this "Cars" cake is edible, except for Lightening McQueen, Mater, and the flags. Even the rocks are candy! The road is crushed chocolate graham crackers, and the "Cars" symbol is marshmallow fondant.
