Appreciation Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for the Preschool Ministry Team at my church. They were Christmas-themed, but I used hearts to decorate since they were made in appreciation of all their hard work and dedication!

Brandy Alexander Cheesecake

For our Thanksgiving dinner, I made a Brandy Alexander cheesecake! It has a chocolate cookie crust and a light chocolate cheesecake filling with delicious flavorings. A dark chocolate swirl on top made it extra-rich. Very yummy!

Happy Birthday Robyn

I didn't realize it when I was fulfilling this cake order, but Robyn was a former student of mine. I love it when I realize what a small world we live in! The talented trumpet player in my middle school band is now a beautiful 28-year-old woman. This is a white chocolate cake with white chocolate icing and fondant accents.

Luggage Retirement Cake

I made this cake for the sweet music ministry secretary in our church. She is enjoying her retirement by traveling and visiting her numerous grandchildren! I was asked to create a cake that fit with the travel/grandkids theme. The two luggage cakes are covered with homemade marshmallow fondant and decorated with molding chocolate. The stickers repreresent all the places Sherrie will travel to visit her grandkids! I added a letter and a cup of coffee as a whimsical touch.

Zebra Birthday

I learned a couple of new techniques while I was making this birthday cake. First, I perfected my black fondant recipe. Instead of being bitter with tons of black food coloring, I used more dark chocolate and the result was that it tasted like....dark chocolate! I also made fondant roses for the first time. They are so much faster and easier than the traditional Wilton icing roses. Estelle loved the cake!

Birthday Girl

This cake was inspired by the cute invitation for Sara Beth's birthday party!

Soccer Cupcakes

These cute soccer cupcakes are iced with "grassy" buttercream and topped with edible sugar soccer balls!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

I can't believe the Christmas season is just around the corner! This was my first order of the holiday season, and it made me want to listen to all the Christmas music on my Ipod while I was decorating. These are red velvet cakes with cream cheese icing and icing decor. I added some edible glitter for sparkle.

Twin Girls!

A baby shower cake for twin girls! This is iced with smooth buttercream and decorated with fondant. I love the little babies' bottoms peeking out from under the blanket!

Birthday Present

This is a yummy strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream filling and chocolate fondant. I've been working on my fondant bow technique and I think I've finally got it!

Salon-Themed Birthday

This cake was so much fun! The birthday girl wanted a huge nail polish bottle atop a zebra-print cake. I developed a new recipe for the black fondant...normally it is quite bitter, but this recipe is smooth and chocolately. The feather boa and plastic pearls added some drama.

Marvin the Martian

I used a character pan and buttercream icing to create this birthday cake!

Baby Shower Cupcakes

These baby shower cupcakes were very simple and elegant. Atop the buttercream icing lies a small circle of marshmallow fondant with the baby's initial in chocolate. This concept could be used for birthday cupcakes, bridal shower cupcakes, or any special occasion!

Carousel Cake

This cake was made for a themed luncheon celebration. The theme was a child's birthday party at the zoo! My inspiration was the beautiful fabric covering the table. The carousel theme would also make a cute baby shower cake!

Electric Guitar, "Camo" Style

I learned a new technique to cover this guitar-shaped cake with fondant. In order to make the "camo" pattern, I combined different colors of marshmallow fondant, kneaded it briefly, and rolled it flat. The birthday boy loved it!

Cowboy Birthday Cake

The fondant decor of this cake was fun to make! I hand-piped the detail on the bandana, as well as the denim pocket. The lasso that surrounds the bottom of the cake and encircles the cowboy hat is rolled fondant.

"Cars" Birthday Cake

Everything on this "Cars" cake is edible, except for Lightening McQueen, Mater, and the flags. Even the rocks are candy! The road is crushed chocolate graham crackers, and the "Cars" symbol is marshmallow fondant.

Special Birthday Cake

This was a birthday cake for a special lady who turned 80 years old. She wanted a wedding-style cake, white cake with white buttercream icing. I piped tiny hot pink polka dots around each layer. The cake was topped with a pink Gerber daisy!

Cowboy Baby Shower

I was provided with a precious baby shower invitation as an inspiration for this cake. The baby, blanket, cowboy hat, and rope are all crafted out of homemade marshmallow fondant. My friend wanted Baby Brody's bum peeking out under the blanket with his little cowboy boots!

Boys' Gymnastics Birthday Cake

My godson Evan requested a gymnastics cake for his 8th birthday! He specifically wanted a picture of him doing an "Iron Cross" on the rings. The figure is made out of homemade marshmallow fondant. It's hard to tell, but I sculpted a six-pack of abs on the little guy. Evan was delighted and proceeded to show all his party guests his real six-pack. Seriously, he's the most muscular and fit 8-yr-old I've ever seen!

Raggedy Ann Birthday Cake

This Raggedy Ann cake was for a very special 5-yr-old birthday girl. The frosting and edgings are buttercream icing, and the Raggedy Ann is made out of homemade marshmallow fondant.

Flowers and Butterflies Birthday Cake

The five-year-old girl that I made this cake for wanted a "happy" cake with colorful flowers, butterflies, bumble bees, and a rainbow!

Ballerina Cake

I can't describe how much joy it gave me to make this cake for my daughter's first ballet recital! The look on her face was priceless when she saw it for the first time. Literally speechless. The ballerina is a fake Wilton doll with a fondant foot. The top of her tutu is a thin rolled piece of fondant with buttercream ruffles underneath. Grace wanted a pink cake inside, so I baked a fresh strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream filling and cream cheese icing.

Graduation Cake

My sweet friend Estelle completed her master's degree in education! We celebrated with a fun family picnic in a local park, and I got to bring the cake! This is a dark chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, covered in marshmallow fondant work.

Airplane-Themed Baby Shower

This one was really fun to design and make. Each of the three tiers is covered with fondant. I didn't fully blend the colors in the top layer of fondant to give the appearance of a sky. The airplane looks like it's taking off above the clouds!

Book-Themed Baby Shower

This is a baby shower cake for a special friend of mine. Her shower them was "Books and More Books!". I stacked book cakes and labeled them with her favorite childhood stories. The blocks are rice crispy treats covered in fondant, and the giraffe and frog are full fondant. My favorite is Baby Dylan under the fondant baby blanket!

Birthday Cake

This is a small, personal-sized birthday cake for a special mom! Inside is devil's food chocolate cake with almond buttercream icing!

First Communion

This was a first communion cake for two special boys, Patrick and Evan. It is half french vanilla and half chocolate cake with buttercream icing. I shaped it like an open Bible and covered it in marshmallow fondant. The cross, flowers, and decor were all fondant.

Easter Cake

This cake was a for our Easter luncheon with friends. Grace helped me cut out the fondant flowers and butterflies! The inside is a delicate peach cake with peach buttercream filling and cream cheese frosting. It was light and lovely for a spring cake!

Paisley Baby Shower Cake

This baby shower cake was so much fun to make! If I was making myself a baby shower cake, this would be it. The paisley detail was delicately cut from fondant and hand-painted. The cake was french vanilla with almond buttercream. The baby booties on top were rice crispy treats covered in buttercream. Mom-to-be loved this cake!

Anniversary Cake

This was a HUGE full-sized sheet cake that fed over 100 people. It took two strong men to carry it, and I bought a slab of lumber for stability under the cake. Decorating a cake this size presents a whole new set of challenges, but I thought it was pretty good for my first time. Half the cake is chocolate, and half the cake is vanilla covered in vanilla buttercream frosting! The roses are made with buttercream icing covering a Hershey's kiss. Very yummy!

Valentine's Day Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made as a Valentine's Day treat for a ladies' Bible study! The cupcakes are dark chocolate with vanilla buttercream under the layer of decorative marshmallow fondant. Yum!

Valentine's Day Cake

I made this Valentine's Day cake as a project for my latest Wilton fondant class! Inside, it is a delicate German chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing. My dad absolutely loved this cake. Since I made this cake while I was visiting my family in south Louisiana, I had some trouble with the fondant. The humidity got to the bow a little...I know in the future to let it dry a little longer in a high humidity area!
