Anniversary Cake

This was a HUGE full-sized sheet cake that fed over 100 people. It took two strong men to carry it, and I bought a slab of lumber for stability under the cake. Decorating a cake this size presents a whole new set of challenges, but I thought it was pretty good for my first time. Half the cake is chocolate, and half the cake is vanilla covered in vanilla buttercream frosting! The roses are made with buttercream icing covering a Hershey's kiss. Very yummy!

Valentine's Day Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made as a Valentine's Day treat for a ladies' Bible study! The cupcakes are dark chocolate with vanilla buttercream under the layer of decorative marshmallow fondant. Yum!

Valentine's Day Cake

I made this Valentine's Day cake as a project for my latest Wilton fondant class! Inside, it is a delicate German chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing. My dad absolutely loved this cake. Since I made this cake while I was visiting my family in south Louisiana, I had some trouble with the fondant. The humidity got to the bow a little...I know in the future to let it dry a little longer in a high humidity area!

Cupcake-Themed Birthday Cake

My daughter is celebrating her 5th birthday this month, and she recently had her cupcake-themed party! She requested a chocolate cupcake cake with lots of colors. I used my special cupcake pan for the top. The bottom two layers are covered and decorated with colored fondant.

Christmas Cakes

I was happy to create a few special cakes for Todd's faculty Christmas luncheon this year! Instead of one big cake, I wanted to give everyone some flavor choices.

The small poinsettia cake is yellow with almond buttercream. I put some edible glitter on the fondant poinsettia to
make it sparkley!

The present cake with the red bow is red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. It is covered in fondant wrapping paper with hand-painted snowflakes.

The cupcakes are also red velvet with cream cheese icing. Each one has a small royal icing holly leaf with red hots as berries.
The large Merry Christmas cake is devil's food with chocolate-espresso buttercream filling. It is covered with fondant and decorated with fondant balls and polka dots.

Christmas Tree Cookies

I made these cute Christmas tree cookies to carry to the annual mother-daughter tea at our pastor's home this year! They are sugar cookies decorated with royal icing and sprinkles.

Fleur de Lis Cake

This was a birthday cake for my sweet friend Estelle. She requested dark chocolate cake with cream cheese icing. I covered the 4-layer cake with homemade fondant. I colored the fondant gold and cut out the diamond shapes to go around the sides. Each diamond was hand-painted with gold dust! For the fleur-de-lis and black accents, I started with chocolate fondant and added food coloring. I carefully traced and cut out the pattern, attaching everything to the cake with icing.

It was quite yummy and a big hit at the party! Best of all, the birthday girl (an avid Saints fan and true Cajun) loved it!
